Be Realistic You're Not Going to Win the Lottery

With no winner in Saturday's Powerball Jackpot, I think it's cute that everyone is dreaming what they would do if they hit "900 Million" dollars. I also think, about the multiple times in my life people automatically believed and depended on the lotto as a ticket out of poverty.

"The only way we getting outta here is if we hit the lotto"- The Dream
Hell, the dream even had me for a moment and to be honest, I've thought long and hard about the things I would if I actually won:

1. I WOULD KEEP QUIET!

That's right it's nobody's business besides immediate family members. Once you open the door to your friends and extended family before turning the ticket in more problems are likely to occur. KEEP QUIET.

2. I WOULD CALL A LAWYER AND ORGANIZE A FINANCIAL TEAM (CPA ETC.)

Winning the lottery would bring me from a low income college student to a person of the 1%. I think it's important to realize that I don't have the money management skills I think I would have as a millionaire. With more than 70% of people losing their earnings within 5 years I DON'T WANT TO BE ONE OF THEM. In fact, I think it's important when I die I am able to leave my family financial stable.

3. AFTER ALL, THE HYPE IS OVER I WOULD TURN IN MY TICKET.

The moment you turn in your ticket, your LIFE will change forever. I think it's up to me to decide when the time is right.

4. I WILL PAY OFF MY DEBTS AND CONTINUE MY EDUCATION.

I think it's simple to understand why! I want to live debt free and have an education! I WANT MY DEGREE.

5. I WILL LOOK OUT FOR FAMILY.

I'm pretty sure once I'm revealed on TV my long lost cousin who overlooked my friend request on facebook will miraculously try to connect. Oh, I forgot the 292 long lost cousins I have across the country. No joke this is not something I'm creating off of the top of my head this is a reality. The love of money changes people. However, I do believe it's important to look out for your real family and with that being said I will make sure that my immediate family is taking care of first. Afterwards, I will reach out to my extended family.

Like all things that are important, there's a catch. I refuse to give $1 million dollars (or whatever I decide) to people who WILL BLOW IT. To ensure they won't, I will set them up with my financial team so they can be educated on how to DO RIGHT by the windfall. Just in case, you didn't get the memo, I refuse to have people in my corner who want to be flossy, acting like they got money to blow. When the money is gone who will they expect to pick up the pieces? #SORRYBUDDY

6. I WILL MAKE MY CONTACT LIMITED.

Like other lotto winners have said before everyone around you will have a $10,000-$20,000 problem and feel obligated to your winnings. I'm changing my number and if I need to my company. No. I don't believe in "buying" rich and famous friends. I also, don't believe in people kissing my butt to get in my pockets. However, I think I can weed out the people who just want to be my friend because I can cut them a check.

5. I WILL ENSURE THAT I DONATE TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT WERE BENEIFICAL TO MY DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY.

I refuse to act like I don't know where I came from so it's a no brainer I will be making donations. This includes the CHURCH! However, I will make sure I have a budget to how much I donate overtime.

6. ENJOY LIFE.

My entire life I lived like I had all the time in the world to. All my life I've been dying to live. I've been dying to do away with the stress and the pain. I've been dying to provide for my family and I'm sure these winnings will ease the pain. Most importantly, it will give me that extra push to ENJOY LIFE.

However, because I know I won't win which is very realsitic, enjoying life out of every item on my list is the most realistic thing I can commit to as of now. I think this is what I should look forward to.

But hey, you never know!
